WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE HEAT WON’T COME ON

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE HEAT WON’T COME ON?

Touching your thermostat and having it turn on is expected, right? I mean, that’s it’s job. But, if you really think about it, why do we just expect it? I mean, you haven’t paid any attention to your heating unit for at least half the year, and then along comes that first cold snap and your finger, with all the confidence in the world, pushes that button that starts the motor running – or does it?

Now, I will say that these are amazing products but maybe we should think about how many other things we have that could be neglected for six months and still respond.

If you’re like other home owners on a cold day with no heat, you’re pleading and begging that it start; promising that you’ll never neglect your heating system again if it will just turn on this one last time. However, if all the promising doesn’t work, you are now frantically trying to find someone to come out and fix it for you.

This is a story we have heard all too often which is why we at Girard Heating and Air Conditioning are here with a friendly reminder to those that made promises to your heating system last year and to those that want to avoid making one this year.

Why you should perform preventive maintenance?

Heating and cooling systems work incredibly hard to perform their functions for your household. The constant stopping, starting and continual operation can wear down a machine quickly and unexpectedly if the proper care and maintenance is delayed. However, by performing preventive maintenance, or servicing your system regularly, you can maximize the lifecycle of your heating or cooling unit and guard against many unexpected failures.

How long will my system last?

Proper maintenance is key. Maintenance and service play a key role in the life-cycle of a heating or air conditioning system. If all recommended maintenance and service actions are taken, an air conditioner can last 12 to 15 years and a gas furnace 20 to 25 years.1
